Audra Lowe: If you want to look good in that swimsuit you might have a little bit of work to do. But you know the first step to getting in shape this Spring is to start with a perfect pair of shoes.

Fitness Magazine, here’s what they did. They asked their readers to step, ride, even splash their way through the Spring’s sportiest styles all to find out the best shoes out there, and they did.

Lindsey Emery is here and she’s the Senior Fitness Editor of Fitness Magazine. She’s sharing the best sneakers out there to help get your training off to the right foot, no pun intended.

Lindsey Emery: Thank you. Good to be here.

Audra Lowe: So they went through them all and here is the best of the best, right?

Lindsey Emery: That’s right. These are what our readers love the most.

Audra Lowe: So we have three running shoes right off the top. First one is if you need a neutral cushion shoe, this is the winner right?

Lindsey Emery: That’s right. This is Mizuno Wave Creation 11. Its $135.00 and it’s great for someone with a high arch who needs a little more cushioning. It has this great plastic wave mid-sole that helps absorb shock all along the bottom of your foot.

Audra Lowe: And there’s ventilation in that one too, right?

Lindsey Emery: There is. It has underfoot ventilation so you don’t get too hot, which is perfect for summer running.

Audra Lowe: Okay now, if you need extra stability when you're running. That’s a big, big thing. This is a good winner.

Lindsey Emery: This is the Brooks Adrenaline GTS10, it’s for someone who like you said extra stability. They tend to have a flatter arch; need a little bit more arch support and stiffness in the shoe. So this is a great one for that. But it also has sometimes they get a little too stiff. This has some gel cushioning on the forefoot and heel to add a little bit more of soft landing for your joints.

Audra Lowe: Does that one also have like a lining for odor too?

Lindsey Emery: It does. So if you’ve got sweaty feet problems it won’t leave you stinking.

Audra Lowe: You're running on the trail, so you need a totally different type of shoe especially one that really does give you a lot of support.

Lindsey Emery: This is the Merrell CTR Cruise. This is water-resistant also important on the trail because you don’t know what—

Audra Lowe: Surface you're going to be running on.

Lindsey Emery: Exactly! This has on the really rugged thread, so any surface that you're on its going to help you get through it and leave you stable and this shoe is $110.00.

Audra Lowe: Now this is a great walking shoe that I'm all doing these days. It’s light.

Lindsey Emery: It is.

Audra Lowe: And that’s what I love about this.

Lindsey Emery: Yeah, that’s what our readers love too is that it really is shaped more like a running shoes so it’s lightweight, breathable. Sometimes walking shoes can be a little clunky. It also has a super flexible outsole, which is very important to keep you even when you stride because you have a heel-toe motion. And this shoe is only $85.00, so it’s really good for someone who needs to get into exercising.

Audra Lowe: We’re going to talk about hiking shoes. And the testers that you talked to raved about this one why is that?

Lindsey Emery: This is the Keen Voyager and not only is it really a good looking hiking shoe, but its low profile. It has some mesh so it’s not super heavy and it has a great—if you want to flip it over it has this great lugs. They are super intense and really keep you grounded on any terrain no matter if you're uphill or downhill. And it’s $100.00.

Audra Lowe: Tennis shoes, obviously you have to have a lot of support for the ankle, the heel and everywhere right. This is the winner.

Lindsey Emery: This is the Wilson Tour Vision. It’s a really good looking shoe and it also has some fluid gel pockets under the forefoot. So when you're doing a lot of you’re pivoting on the court, fast movements it gives you a little extra cushioning. It also has a great toe box. So when you're kind of gliding across the court doing your serve all that sort of stuff, you're not hurting your toes.

Audra Lowe: Okay, now this one is interesting to me because this is a great water shoe. Does that make people run in the water?

Lindsey Emery: No. There is kayaking, canoeing, hiking around the water and that’s what’s great about this shoe is its kind of a combination of a water shoe and hiking shoe. It’s $80.00 and it has a great mesh upwards. It’s really breathable.

Audra Lowe: It’s so light too.

Lindsey Emery: It’s so light and it also covers your toes. So you know if you are walking on rocks. It has a great adjustable heel strap to keep you secure.

Audra Lowe: You need this in the city because you're walking a lot of rock in the city too.

Lindsey Emery: Yeah and raining.
