Host: Hi! I’m like the Valley Girl. I live in Silicon Valley, the heart of innovative technology. I know where all this awesome companies are. But how the heck did they get here? That’s why I’m here to find out. I’m like the Valley Girl, what do you do?
And we’re back with you on Elon Musk of Tesla Motors and SpaceX. So Elon, tell me a little about Tesla.
Elon Musk: Tesla we make like the cause. The Tesla road serves the only highway capable for electric car for sale in United States and Europe. Not just the only sports car, it’s the only one of any kind. It’s comparable to Porsche 911 actually faster than Porsche 911 and 063.9 seconds and it’s got very good handling and it looks pretty cool.
Host: So tell me about the S-car.
Elon Musk: We’ve just unveil the model S. We wanted people to know what the color’s going to be like. And I thought running like for two years, I’d rather get the thought of kind of a preview.
Host: A teaser. What is the S-car and escargot have in common?
Elon Musk: Not a lot. Escargot is slow which we are not.
Host: Are your customers complaining about gas prices?
Elon Musk: The price of gas is not the main driver of somebody buying $100,000.00 sports.
Host: So do you put gas in the car?
Elon Musk: No it’s current, electric you just drive it. You plug in like a hair dryer.
Host: Your cars are all electric. So how does it work, you plug it in like a hair dryer.
Elon Musk: Yes the charge is built into the car, so just you’re plugging a laptop or cellphone or whenever you use just plug it.
Host: And then you need very long extension cords.
Elon Musk: Well unless you will have plugs in the garage. The range is almost 250 miles.
Host: Explain to me, I have a hybrid. Why is it better than a hybrid?
Elon Musk: When you say you have a hybrid, do you have something which is really maybe tow percent electric and 98% gasoline. And you need to sort of say okay, if the entire world had your car, well we’d still be 100% dependent on gasoline and that matters for all electric is that you can then generate your electricity from renewable means like solar, wind, geothermal and that’s a sustainable future.
Host: What’s the coolest thing about your Tesla?
Elon Musk: Probably acceleration. When you’re on the freeway, you want to pass someone; you don’t have to down shift or anything its just instant acceleration. So you’re like a firefly on the freeway. It’s just amazing you zip it
Host: Where do you think Tesla is going to be in about 10 years?
Elon Musk: Well hopefully at that point we have a complete array of products sports cars all the way down to economy cars and we’ll be in 10 years, I would hope we’re making millions of cars in 10 years.
Host: I have a little activity for you. It is called the fabulous cup. It’s full of fabulous terms and basically what I want you to do is go through and define them as fast as you can. You have one minute to try and define them all.
Elon Musk: Aliens well I used to be one until I got my green card. Falcon one, it’s a rocket made by SpaceX initial rocket. Golf cart not a Tesla; Roadster that’s definitely a Tesla. Solar City, the future solar part in America; Triplets I have them, they’re awesome, I recommend them. CEO yes I do that a lot. Avocado? It’s great with guacamole. Impossible my middle name I think. Paypal, that’s best way to pay on the internet; electricity the future transport.
Host: Thank so much for coming out here Elon. And this is a lot of fun. I’m like the Valley Girl.
Elon Musk: And I’m like Elon Musk.
Host: Thanks for watching. We’ll see you next time.
