(Image source: Sky News )   BY ZACH TOOMBS   More violence in Egypt on Saturday, as repercussions from last year’s deadly soccer riot led to even more killings.   This match in February of last year ended in a massive brawl, with fans of a Port Said team attacking visiting fans — even blocking exits. 74 were killed. And on Saturday, an Egyptian court handed down 21 death sentences for those charged in the violence. [Video: YouTube ]   From Sky News , this was the reaction in the courtroom from family and friends of the convicted. And from family of the victims — celebration at news of the death sentences.   In Port Said, the death sentence announcement followed an attempted prison break for the recently-convicted. The BBC reports.   “Clashes broke out outside the prison where the defendants are being held, with reports of several people killed, including policemen.”   The Port Said killings follow a day of protests across Egypt marking the two-year anniversary of the nation’s revolution — and expressing discontent with the Muslim Brotherhood-led government. [Video: Al Jazeera ]   Reporting Saturday from Cairo, the Los Angeles Times writes:   “The violence … revealed how frayed and desperate Egypt has become two years after the toppling of autocrat Hosni Mubarak. The verdict in the soccer riot case was nervously anticipated as another flashpoint for bloodshed.”   Many supporters of both the victims and suspects in the soccer riot case suspect police of instigating the deadly brawl last year in an effort to further destabilize the Mubarak regime.
