ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were inspired by Sicilian puppets, barrows and ceramics for their colourful Spring/Summer 2013 collection presented at the Milan Fashion Week on Sunday (September 23). Dolce and Gabbana created A-shaped and trapeze dresses for their romantic Mediterranean beauties. The cheerful collection mixed prints of the famous puppets of the Sicilian street theatres with typical local barrows with their unique hand-painted wheels. Stripes recalled beach umbrellas on hot sunny beaches. The designers used raffia embroidered with coral, organza net, rough cotton and stretch linen for clothes women will love to touch. Some models wore bustiers in midollino resembling the typical Sicilian baskets underneath black lace gowns. Dolce and Gabbana sew their creations to emphasise craftsmanship in a variety of forms and lengths. Sandals were sculpted like barrows, while chandelier earrings came in the shape of puppets. Printed cotton bathing suits brought to the grand finale a fresh breeze in the hot summer season.
