Dita Von Teese
Female: These days the word burlesque contrast up images and feather boas boas, nipple tassels and the Raven hair performer Dita Von Teese. But before Dita dazzled audiences with her giant Martini dance routine, burlesque was a form of entertainment virtually unknown to the masses. Unlike strippers, burlesque performers place an emphasis on the tease rather than the strip. And burlesque has now become a popular art form.
Female: There's a pop group who's wearing fishnet, tights and a corset dancing around. They call it burlesque and its not. I find it more difficult to explain to people that burlesque isn’t just about a retro style.
Female: But it's Dita’s 40s glam look that has established her as a style icon. She channels the old style glamour and beauty of the 1940’s and ‘50’s, but it gives it a modern spin. Her favorite designers include John Paul Gaultier, Christine Dior, Zuhair Murad and Jenny Packham.
A fan of corsets, Dita is often spotted in the figure hugging outfits that accentuates the hour glass form. Things waist jackets, high waist skirts and 30s to 40s heels are her everyday look. Dita is never seen without a chic vintage-esk handbag and it’s forever feminine, never stepping out in jeans and a t-shirt. She probably relaxes in stockings and suspenders around the house.
Dita has perfect porcelain skin and never tans. She is known for a trademark red lips and perfectly curled 50’s hairstyle. Being a Dita as a natural blonde with freckles, she shows us that you can be whatever you want to be.
