In reality, he’s there to film the “VICE Guide to North Korea” — a documentary debuting on HBO in April. As for Rodman’s entourage? He’s flanked by none other than the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters on this visit. The Hollywood Reporter wrote since relations between North Korea and the United States are tense, maybe some “basketball diplomacy” is worth a shot. “It’s my first time over here so hopefully we can teach the kids something and have a good time.” This is a private trip by VICE and Rodman. No word on whether the United States approves of the trip, but “The Worm” probably isn’t its ambassador of choice. Although it’s not like he has no experience in other countries. Bleacher Report points out Rodman has played professionally for teams in Mexico, Finland and the United Kingdom. Rodman’s taking to the diplomat role quite well. No telling how good the top athletes in North Korea are.
