It's giant robots versus monstrous aliens in this $150 million US dollar adventure-apocalyptic epic. Walking the red carpet in London for the European premiere, British-born actor Idris Elba explains what attracted him to the project: SOUNDBITE: Actor Idris Elba, saying (English): "We're seeing a lot of remakes, a lot of reboots. This script is actually original, and you know, the history of kaiju versus robot is an old one, but (director) Guillermo (Del Toro) has put his spin on it," A self-proclaimed lover of monsters and giant robots, Del Toro said "Pacific Rim" was his attempt to create a spectacle for the whole family. SOUNDBITE: Director Guillermo del Toro, saying (English): "The movie wanted to be an adventure movie that went back to the adventure movies that I saw as a kid, to try to bring that genre and that sense of scope and awe to a new generation of filmgoers." The film also stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi and Charlie Day. "Pacific Rim" opens in UK theatres on July 12.
