Hi there. Tim Brennan here and today I am going to show you how to defragment your hard drives in Windows Vista.
First, click on the start menu and bring up computer. Right click on the hard drive you want to defragment and select properties. Open the tools tab and click defragment now. Allow time for the disks to be analyzed which may take a few minutes. Once that has been done, the defragment now button will be clickable.
At this time I strongly suggest you make disk defragment at all run on a schedule. So, tick the box, click modified schedule and schedule it to a time that suits you. And now I wait for the disks to be analyzed. I'm going to fast forward a few minutes to keep the video short so please pause the video now and wait until you disks have been analyzed and you're ready to do you defragment.
As you can see, my file system performance can be improved and it is recommended that a defragment now, so click defragment now and the tool is now defragmenting your hard disks. Note that this may take for a few minutes to a few hours. So, if now does not work for you, click cancel defragmentation.
