The wreckage of a deadly train crash near Pakistan's port city of Karachi. Two trains collided about 50 kilometres from the city early on Monday morning. Local media reported that one train slammed into the rear of the other as it waited for signal clearance. At least one person has been confirmed dead -- though local media suggested more -- and at least eight injured were taken to hospital. Offering an early assessment, one official said that a railway guard had been killed and that a number of others were injured. Initial rescue efforts were hampered by darkness, but all passengers trapped inside the damaged rail cars have since been released.
