David Cook - Mentor On American Idol?

Bridget Daly: Hey guys Bridget here for Hollyscoop at the Sixth Annual Pink Party in Hollywood to support Breast Cancer research. I’ve got to all the celebs right here on Yes, the Pink Carpet.

What’s going on with you, new album, new music, what can we expect?

David Cook: I’ve been working under record actually since we got up the road late last year, a lot of writing and probably looking at early next year getting out so I’m so excited.

Bridget Daly: Very cool. So what kind of anything changing any collaboration that we can look forward to?

David Cook: I just think you know this one we just have way more time so a lot of difference experimentation. Hopefully you know expanded and I will be there on the last record and hopefully bring in the few new years into the group.

Bridget Daly: And I have to ask you about American Idol, there are so many changes happening. Do you think the show can survive without Simon?

David Cook: You know I hope so. I think Simon was a big part of the process for me and a lot of others now that we have the new judging panel in place, man. I think the show is going to live or die on the contestants so I look forward to seeing the show hopefully starts investing the contestants again and really make it about them because I think then you coming up the show and have it success what’s going to drive that show long term.

Bridget Daly: What do you think about J.Lo and Steven Tyler? Do you think that’s like a crazy choice or --

David Cook: I’m just excited to go back and meet them. I’m going to have to try real hard not to fan out on Tyler but now I think every now you can got to bring some fresh perspective and so hopefully that’s what they bring and it’s --I don’t know, let’s see. Time will tell.

Bridget Daly: Any plans to go back in mentor or anything like that.

David Cook: If they’ll have me. I don’t know what I’m going to tell them but yeah if they’ll have me, I’ll be more than happy to.

Bridget Daly: They brought back Adam Lambert like they next year so you can of course go back. You're a pro now.

David Cook: I don’t know, thank you, pro is nice, yeah.
