Dave Wiens on What Lance Brings to Leadville 100
Having Lance race in the Leadville 100 mountain bike race is really amazing and that it’s good for the race itself. The Leadville 100 was—it was a well known race because of the altitude in Leadville but it was just another one of the endurance races that was there, and I guess Lance could have showed up at any race and really brought a level of that particular race up for whatever reason he choose Leadville.
So, it’s fantastic for the race but he’s not racing as if he was in the Tour de France against a bunch of professionals. He’s racing against a couple you know—few guys upfront and then he’s racing against mom’s and dad’s and grandparents and all kinds of people just regular people through the—this year it’s going to be 1300. So he is doing a race that’s with all of these people and they're doing the same course. They're going on the same shotgun class as he is and that’s really cool and I think when people see Lance branching out and he’s probably getting out of his comfort zone a little bit specially last year by jumping into a mountain by race.
I think it inspire people to do the same and its just fantastic and then to see what he’s done with his age, 37 come back after four years out and you know nearly win the Tour de France and just be rock solid in third place. I think he inspired people allover the world beyond what he already had with what he had done before. So I think it’s pretty special what he is doing by racing the Leadville 100.
