The root of this unique cookie are centuries old. One of the earliest records dates cookies back to second century Rome, and hard wafers stored easily. But the more familiar version of the cookie came from Persia, one of the first countries to cultivate sugar. In the seventh century, a small amount of cake batter was use to test oven temperature and then many cakes or cookies were a big hit.
