It's underscored the urgency for the government to press ahead with difficult reforms needed to revive Asia's third largest economy. Finance minister P. Chidambaram has warned economic growth this financial year could be as low as 5.5 percent, which would be the worst in a decade. But analysts are hopeful key reforms, including a tax overhaul and efforts to open the retail sector to foreign players, will help put the country back on the fast track. Those hopes are already being reflected in a stock market rally . (SOUNDBITE) (English) HEAD OF ASIAN FUNDAMENTAL EQUITIES, BLACKROCK, ANDREW SWAN, SAYING: "If you look forward over the next 2-3 years India's growth could be re-accelerating, which would certainly justify the premium valuations in the region. So India's growth may be underperforming now, but there are many bets on brighter days ahead. The question now is if the recovery will be strong and fast enough for those bets to pay off.
