SHOTLIST:Pool - AP Clients OnlyIrving, Texas - Dec. 81. SOUNDBITE: John Argumaniz /Irving Police Dept. Spokesman"The Irving Police Dept. Is currently investigating a single vehicle fatality accident involving two Dallas Cowboy football players. What the investigation has revealed at this point is that at approximately 2:21 this morning, a Joshua Price Brent was travelling westbound in the 1400 block of the north service road of state highway 114. It appears as though his vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, at which time his vehicle touch or impacted the outside curb at which time his vehicle touched or impacted the outside curb of the service road causing his vehicle to flip at least one time....the vehicle ultimately came to rest on its top, once it slid back in to the roadway and came to rest in the center of the service road. When our officers got there, they made contact with Mr. Price Brent who was responsive and talking to our officers outside of the vehicle. He was determined to be the driver of that vehicle. Our officers also located a Larry Brown, Jr. Who was lying on the ground and he was unresponsive. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Our officers on scene felt as if alcohol was a contributing factor, so Mr. Price Brent was asked to perform some field sobriety tests. After he performed those tests....along with our officers observations, he was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Once our officers learned that Mr. Brown had passed away, then Mr. Price Brent was under arrest for intoxication manslaughter. He was taken to a hospital for a mandatory blood draw...then he was transported to the Irving Jail where he was booked for one count of intoxication manslaughter, which is a second degree felony. He remains at the police department here."STORYLINE: Dallas Cowboys practice-squad linebacker Jerry Brown was killed in a one-car accident Saturday and teammate Josh Brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter. Irving police spokesman John Argumaniz said the accident happened about 2:20 a.m. Saturday in the Dallas suburb. Brent was speeding when the vehicle hit a curb and flipped at least once, Argumaniz said. Argumaniz says the 25-year-old Brown was found unresponsive at the scene and pronounced dead at a hospital. The police spokesman says officers conducted a field sobriety test on Brent and arrested him. The charge was upgraded after Brown was pronounced dead. The team said in a statement that Brent was not on the team flight to Cincinnati, where the Cowboys play the Bengals on Sunday. The accident happened a week after another NFL tragedy. Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher killed his girlfriend and then committed suicide on Dec. 1. Brent has played in all 12 games this season and has been a bigger presence on defense with starting nose guard Jay Ratliff battling injuries. He made his first career start the season opener against the New York Giants and has 35 tackles and 11/4 sacks. The Cowboys signed Brown to their practice squad Oct. 24, but he hasn't been on the active roster.(****END****)
