Multiple victims shot in College Station Texas not far from the Texas A&M University campus.
It appears at least one shooting victim -- a police officer -- has died.
CNN spoke with a police department spokesman about the situation.

“Our officers did respond. WE have multiple people who have been shot.  And we also have law enforcement that has been shot.  I do not have any numbers at this point.”

CodeMaroon warnings started streaming out from the Texas A&M campus shortly after 12:30 pm.
Three emergency notifications in a 15 minute time period.

(12:29 PM) “CSPD reports an active shooter in the area ... Please avoid the area. Residents in the immediate area need to remain inside their residence.”
(12:38 PM)”Update ...The location of the active shooter is in the 200 block of Fidelity Dr. Stay away from the area.”
(12:44 PM)”Update on active shooter: CSPD reports that the shooter is in custody. Continue to avoid the area.”

Shortly thereafter, pictures from the scene started coming in to television stations.
KHOU-TV has details.

“We do know that the shooter is now in custody. But once again, College Station police reporting multiple casualties.”

The campus paper -- The Eagle -- was the first to confirm the officer fatality.

“One of two officers shot during an incident on Fidelity Street in College Station has died, according to several sources.  ... The Eagle's police scanner early on picked up dispatchers saying that two officers were wounded. Initial reports state one was a constable.”


WFAA in Dallas is reporting, the gunfire erupted during an eviction notice served.


“The employee said Brian Bachmann, 41, was fatally injured while the eviction was under way. He was a certified peace officer since 1992 and a Brazos County sheriff's deputy since 1993. He was elected as the constable for Precinct 1 in January of 2011.”
