It only cost a shade under 17 billion dollars. MSN spoke with Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts. “However you chose to consume it, we want you to consume our content; and you consume it through our network.” Comcast is now the single largest cable provider in America. NBCUniversal operates USA, E!, MSNBC, CNBC, the NBC Sports Network, Bravo and Syfy. ( Via The New York Times ) With that in mind, Bloomberg analysts had questions about how prominent NBC programming would be displayed on Comcast. “ They absolutely have a financial stake in NBC doing very well. Does that influence where they put it on the TV? ” The short answer? Yeah, probably. When the original merger with GE was announced two years ago Jon Stewart sarcastically wondered why monopolies like this don’t happen more. “ Thank god now if my cable goes out, I go to a theme park and choke on a turkey leg, and my favorite show gets canceled, there’s only one number to call. ”   The financial markets didn’t feel the same way. The LA Times reported Comcast’s and GE stock rose Tuesday. Comcast’s acquisition of GE happened after hours and wasn’t expected this soon by any. Make that, expected by most. The Atlantic Wire notes NBC’s 30 Rock predicted the buyout. So, how will the move work out? We’ll have to ask Tina Fey.
