Closet Confessions with DJ Harley Viera-Newton
This is War-white, my style icon. My name is Harley Viera-Newton welcome. Sure I put this on. It was a rock and roll themed birthday. These I got deejaying a Valentine’s Day party—Blue, pink, another important accessory. Tuesday nights I deejay a large club called Avenue. Then on Wednesdays, which I’ve been doing for two years now, pay a lot of the clash and the cure of dismiss but we, Phoenix and Animal Collective and Mike Snow, Lady Gaga, ODB, Jay-Z.
So every year for my birthday, my best friend and I threw this big party and we make these t-shirts that we give out. So this is 21. “I went to Cassie and Harley’s 21st birthday and all I got is this lousy hangover” which is really classy giveaway. This is 22, “I went to Cassie and Harley’s 22nd birthday and all I got was this promotional t-shirt. I see people wearing this all over the place; they sort of punch people on Paris wearing them. So I have a couple of two other pieces here. This little white dress is one of my favorites. It’s actually longer and I shortened it which I tend to do with my dresses, this is a more of a day look, night look. Well this is another tier piece. This is really nice to your top that I borrowed.
Yes I just try and hold on to it as long as I can, before I get aggressive emails give us our stuff back. So I have a lot of amazing and fun curiosities, sort of litter the apartment, Live in an Egyptian boat. Old scales, some canopic jars in the British museum, an hour glass, a dove. So here’s my jewelry, I’m a huge Hamblin’s fan, lots of spikes, chains and studs. This is a new necklace I got from his Alice in wonderland collection. It plays a lot with crystals and color. LoeLa partly is one of my favorite designers. It’s definitely very girly skirts, pretty crazy old Westwood.
Another thing from that collection is this sweater called the hangman sweater which is made famous by the Sex pistols. It was like an iconic piece of history. Perfect motorcycle jacket, so I have both colors. This is one of my favorite dresses of all time; I wore it to prom because a lot of memories are connected with this piece. There’s no more space unfortunately so they have to double up.
And then I lose them sometimes. I have a serious weakness for gingham and polka dots. Again flat, gingham, pretty predictable, gingham, and well this is really sad, I’m glad gingham polka dots, gingham polka dots flat, and this is a Tom Bihn’s bag, it’s really heavy in the weight. It’s really good; it’s sort of a weapon. So this Chanel bag, I’ve been pining over and after for years and years, I recommend it to everyone. It’s really, really tiny, it fits a phone and a wallet and one piece of make up if you’re lucky, it bankrupted me.
Here’s my dad, my best friend, this is from my 22nd birthday and me dress up as a Christmas cracker. That’s my mother back in the days. This is a note I got two days after I moved in. for the respect of your neighbors, please turn down the music or off. Sorry neighbors.
