It’s another DIY Network desperate landscape quick tip.
I'm Jason Cameron. If you have an ugly stained roof—to annoying your neighbors and putting a dent in your curb appeal, here are some tips to clean things up. In most cases, black stains like you see here are caused by algae. Unless you clean it, the problem will be literary keep growing and add more black stains to your roof.
First, don't wear contraction boots or anything with a thick heavy thread when climbing on your roof. Any shoe like a gym shoe with a flat sole works well. Two, use a blower to clean up debris. A gas powered blower will generally do a better job than electric because it packs more punch and you don't have to work on the cord. Third, look for especial roof cleaners like this that won’t damage your plants. This one is gentler. It’s made from soda and ash. And finally, you don't want to use a heavy duty pressure washer because it can damage the shingles, a sprayer like these work best.
