Well Hi everybody! My name is Matt Kloskowski. I am here live at Photoshop World and got a Light Room 2 tip for you kind of back to the future. You know something that we could not do in an earlier version of Light Room that we can do now and here it is.

Now, what we are going to do is take a photo the develop module and up at the top, we have our adjustment brush. So this is brand new inside of a Light Room tip. Under the adjustment brush, we have a clarity setting and if you use clarity before you will always know that you could go zero to a hundred, but now you could actually take clarity negative. And by taking clarity negative, I am just going to crank this all the way down to 100 and instead of doing what clarity does which is a kind of almost a little bit of detailed enhancement. It is the opposite. It softens things.

So in this example here we can soften this skin on the portrait. I can take my adjustment brush and I can start to paint on the skin and what I am doing is I am softening it and I am going to avoid the details on the face. I am just going to go over the large area of the skin if you write up there near the hairline and I can use my left bracket key if I want to make it the brush smaller and get closer to the eyes, all right! It looks like pretty good. And now take a look at what we have done here. I want to go down to the bottom of the adjustment brush panel here and I am going to toggle the adjustment off take a look before and then after. Before and then after and if you zoom it a little bit, I am going to go in a little bit more here, if you zoom in, take a look at it one more time. Before and then after so as you can see how it almost softens the features in the face. You can even take your sharpness setting down and you can do it even more.

Let us take a look at it one more time before and then after. So skin softening was something was something that used to be pretty much reserved only for Photoshop, but you can get good start. You are not going to do high fashion retouching here and library room, but if you got get through some photos really, really quick want to do some quick skin softening, try the negative clarity setting with the adjustment brush in world screen.
