STORYLINE: The producers of the 87th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade showed off their five newest floats and balloons on Tuesday. One of those is the Cirque du Soleil float. It will be filled with acrobats and feature a pirate with a confetti cannon. Amy Kule is executive producer of the parade and is very excited about the Cirque de Soleil's float. She says "Generally our floats are very smooth sailing down the parade route where we've got entertainers waving, we've got kids, interacting with clowns. But this year we've got a float with Cirque du Soleil where it is going to come to life. We've got acrobats jumping on trampolines. They are spinning on poles. They are walking seemingly in place on treadmills. It's going to be an incredible, incredible float for everybody to see." Sea World is collaborating with Macy's on a float that includes a menagerie of sea creatures, which is topped by two Orca whales. "We're working with the folks from Sea World and we've got a beautiful float that depicts the underworld of the sea, obviously coming to life we've got turtles, whales, all the sea life really interacting with each other. It's a beautiful, beautiful float," said Kule. This year, there will also be a float with a giant hot air balloon featuring the characters from the Wizard of Oz to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the film. And the wizard will be riding in the basket.
