Ingredients 1½ cups AP flour 3 tablespoons sugar ½ cup cocoa powder 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon baking soda 3 eggs, beaten 4 tablespoons unsalted butter 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups buttermilk ¾ cup chocolate chips
Method: Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions. In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. In another bowl beat together eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and buttermilk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir in the chocolate chips just until combined. Allow to rest for 5 minutes. Cook according to your iron’s instructions. Serve immediately or keep warm in a 200ºF oven until ready to serve.
