Dr. Estelle Nella: It's time for your adjustment now, let's have a look.
Infants require adjustments because sometimes the birth process can be traumatic. There's sometimes a lot of pulling or twisting or pushing in order to allow the baby to be delivered, whether its Natural or Scissorian. So any range of symptoms can include colic babies, ear infections, asthma, any other symptoms related to a depressed nervous system.
I'm just going to put a little bit of pressure right into through here.
Mainly with infants our adjustive techniques are definitely different because we're working with much smaller body and much tinier spine. Our adjustments are also much gentler obviously because the bones have not fully become bones, they are more cartilage in structures.
I was checking for subluxation areas which are not moving correctly so that we could put motion back into those areas and re-align the spine, so that it's setting properly.
Dana Berkowitz: Originally I brought her because she was a very fussy infant and I thought that having her spine aligned would help calm her. It would just make her may be feel little happier and I kept bringing her because as she got older, I was a little nervous that she wasn't sitting up on her own yet. So Dr. Nella checked her spine to make sure that everything was okay.
Laura Schweitzer: I did notice that one of her leg balance is a little bit swollen.
Laura Schweitzer: We've been having problems with ear infections. So, Dr. Nella had mentioned that chiropractic can work for ear infections to keep the fluid moving, so that it doesn't pull and become infected. So we're seeing an ENT and they were actually talking about tubes and things and so I was actually very skeptical at first in terms of ears and we thought well we would try it and it has been amazing. She had not have one ear infection since.
There are no dangers in as far as using Chiropractic adjustment to the pediatric patient. We modify our technique so that we use the least amount of force as possible.
