Celebrity Stylist Tips For DIY Halloween Costumes
Allison McNamara: Halloween is all about creative and personalized costumes. Top celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, Jessica Paster and George Kotsiopoulos, tell us how to do do-it-yourself Halloween in style.
George Kotsiopoulos: The most important thing about a Halloween costume is for it to be iconic. The last thing you want is someone saying “Who are you supposed to be?” Then you do not do it right.
For Halloween, anything goes and I say when doubt, just go as trashy as you want to be and all of these costumes where it is like occupation here insert the word sexy in front of it, I get all those because why not? I mean where do you else get a chance to be like a sexy zoo keeper or a sexy 1-800-Dentist operator?
Jessica Paster: What I do see year after year after year is that women or girls just go out of the way to be really sexy and really frisk and really saucy. Girls, there is no need to do that. Halloween is all about fun; that is not how you pick up on men. So, instead of just wearing the shortest, shortest skirt ever, put on a pair of tights. You won’t catch a cold.
DO IT YOURSELF
Jessica Paster: The key to have a successful Halloween costume is just doing it yourself and have fun with it, just don’t take it too seriously, that’s what Halloween is all about. The easy costume to make yourself is things that you have lying around in your house. If you have a red sheet, stuffs it with pillows and makes yourself into a big huge heart.
Phillip Bloch: Like A trench coat and a great pipe and a magnifying glass, you are instantly Sherlock Holmes a la Robert Downey. Or I love doing the whole Audrey Hepburn thing, black gloves, little pearls, a cigarette holder and a black shift dress and the old fashion version of the bump, the Audrey Hepburn hairdo.
George Kotsiopoulos: A blue haired Katy Perry with a bunch of candy girls, you just take Daisy Dukes and then a bra and several bunch of candy on it, easy, no brainer. Or if you need a couple, you can be Katy Perry and Russell Brent or three of you can go as the Kardashians and all you need is like a little baby. You can put padding in your butts and be Kim, dark hair or three dudes as the Kardashians, even funnier!
Jessica Paster: Go town to like a CVS or Rite-Aid and get a kids outfit. Get two of them, sew them together and you have a costume for literally $5.99.
Phillip Bloch: Maybe a little pleated skirt and a tie and shirt and you could be a bad school girl. I love Britney! Hit me baby one more time!
Jessica Paster: Or if all fails, you can just be yourself.
Allison McNamara: I'm Allison. Thanks for watching Fab Flash!
