Casey James on American Idol Tour and Going Country

Female: Hey guys! I'm here hanging out with Casey James of American Idol. I have to say, he’s even cuter in person. OMG is all I have to say. And guys, guess what? I have the inside scoop on the upcoming American Idol tour.

Congratulations on American Idol.

Casey James: Thank you.

Female: The performance that you did with Bret Michaels was amazing. You totally killed it. What was it like performing with him and singing with him?

Casey James: It was amazing because he’s somebody that I always listen to and his kind of a legend in his way. When you meet somebody like that, I guess, you just don’t expect them to be a super nice guy and that he is. He’s amazing. He’s got a great attitude. He’s got a great personality. And so, it was kind of like I was up on stage playing with my best friend. So, it was amazing and then to feel the energy of the crowd when he walked out. After everything his going through, for me to be on the stage in that moment which is overwhelming and something I’ll never forget.

Female: Did you hear that he might be in the judge on American Idol?

Casey James: I’ve heard of that and I think it’s a great idea. He’s got an unbelievable personality and he would bring a lot to the show. So, he knows music and he knows the business. I think it’s a great fit.

Female: Now, tell them about the tour that’s coming up. How exciting is that?

Casey James: It’s huge. We get to pick our own songs. I mean, I’m picking things that I kind of I want to give people that watch the show something from the show. So, there would be stuff form the show as well as stuff that wasn’t on the show.

Female: Do you get to do song like you performed today, the one that you wrote?

Casey James: Unfortunately, we’re not doing any originals on the tour. But it’s going to be great. It’s going to be great stuff. I’ll be doing a set that I picked and it’s full songs. I'm playing guitar and I mean, everybody just going to have a blast. So, I can't wait to do it.

Female: Now, there are rumors going around that there might be some performances where you guys go shirtless, is it true?

Casey James: I think that’s an Aaron and Kelly thing.

Female: What? You're not going to do it?

Casey James: No. I think everyone is seeing enough of that.

Female: No, never.

Casey James: Definitely not me.

Female: Now, there's also rumor going around that you might be going to country music, is it true? Are you going?

Casey James: Well, here's the deal. I'm talking with Sony in Nashville and if things work out there which I hope that they do. It’s a big wide open space in that room and what I do will fit but its not going to be a traditional country by any means. It’s going to be me playing and singing and doing what I do. That’s just going to be where I fit, I think.

Female: Have you always been like a country fan being from Texas?

Casey James: Yeah, absolutely. I grew up listening in George Jones, Merle Haggard and—and all those guys.
