The close-up or also know as the macro mode, is actually pretty good with the Cannon A610. I really like using it. It’s pretty easy to use. Just turn that camera on. You can be in just about any mode when you use this mode. When you use the close-up or the macro mode, I usually prefer the program mode. It gives me the most amount of flexibility with other settings.
So, you’ll see here, you have the navigation buttons. You have down, up, right, and left and here, at the bottom is this little icon of a flower and MF. The flower is your Macro and F is manual focus but we’re going to concentrate on the macro for now, so if I’d basically press the down navigation button. Anytime there’s nothing else on the screen, I get the flower icon, you can see here at the bottom, and that indicates that the camera’s in the macro mode. So now, you can go ahead and take pictures of anything very, very close up.
Now, it’s very important to remember when you’re taking pictures of anything close up, macro pictures, to press the macro button halfway. Anytime you take pictures, you want to press the button halfway but in this case especially, press the button halfway, give the camera second to find the focus point and once it does. You can press it at the rest of the way to take the picture. If it can’t find the focus point, you maybe too far, you maybe too close. You want a backup or you get a little closer and then try again. You want to release the button backup, get closer and then try again and that’s about it.
