My name is Sharon Whitehouse. I'm 18 months survivor. I was fortunate that it was discovered in a routine mammogram. I found out five days before my mother passed away that I have stage one tumor. So, two weeks later, I had surgery because they wanted me to have it very quickly. And last September they said I was cancer free, so I'm just absolutely thrilled to here and this is such a great event and my friends who are walking with me today, two friends from my neighborhood and we’re talking about the fact that this race was one of the very first such events and how it’s inspired so many other wonderful causes and races for those. And this is just a great experience and we hope to make it a tradition.
I walked in the race when I had friends who had passed away from breast cancer about 10 or 15 years ago. I walked for a few years then I took a break because I was raising my children. And last year, we started the three of us walking again after I had survive for six months and we’re going to make it a tradition every year. I mean I'm so—and I can’t believe I was wearing—I wasn’t wearing a survivor shirt the time I walked before. But this is my second year with the pink shirt and it’s just a wonderful experience.
