BLANDI CELEBRATES WITH TEAM MATES STORY: Boca Juniors beat nine-man Union Santa Fe 2-1 on Saturday (August 25) to move to the top of the Argentine league. Julio Cesar Falcioni's team took the lead in the 19th minute when Leandro Paredes' corner was headed in by Rolando Schiavi. Union Santa Fe's afternoon went from bad to worse when they had Pablo Bruna sent off after the midfielder elbowed Paredes in the face. However, on the hour mark Union Santa defied the odds and found an equaliser when Nicolas Correa headed home from Brahian Aleman's corner in an almost identical goal to that of Boca's first. Union Santa Fe, to the delight of their fans, were now on top despite their one-man disadvantage but the momentum soon shifted back to Boca when the home team's Mauro Maidana was sent off for a second yellow card after lunging in late on Diego Rivero. Boca had several chances to score a winner and eventually found it with three minutes of normal time remaining. Emiliano Albin played the ball into Paredes who had a rasping shot rebound off the crossbar and the ball dropped to Nicolas Blandi who had the simple task of tapping in from two metres to claim the victory.
