Image:   Wikimedia Commons BY JASMINE BAILEY New findings in the murder case of Reeva Steenkamp — South African authorities now say a bloody cricket bat was found inside the home of Paralympian Oscar Pistorius. South Africa’s City Press broke the news. Pistorius is on trial for murder after Steenkamp’s body was found in his home on Valentine’s Day morning. She had been shot multiple times, but the Telegraph reports a post-mortem examination also showed she suffered a fractured skull. "There was lots of blood on the bat. Forensic tests will show whose blood it was.” If the blood on the bat is not Steenkamp’s, authorities also suggest she could have been the one who used the bat as a defense. Which, in turn, would refute claims by Pistorius saying he mistook her for an intruder and was the one defending himself. But as CNN points out — there’s quite a bit of evidence that would suggest the murder was not an accident.    No evidence of forced entry  Previous “allegations of domestic nature” Entertainment Tonight reports he also had significant fears for his safety. He... “…kept a pistol by the bed, a machine gun against the wall, a baseball bat and cricket bat under the window.” The Guardian reports on an emotional statement from Pistorius’ uncle who said: “ We have no doubt there is no substance to the allegation and that the state's own case, including its own forensic evidence, strongly refutes any possibility of a premeditated murder or indeed any murder at all.” If Pistorius is found guilty of premeditated murder he could face life in prison.
