Alright guys, let’s go ahead and get to the good stuff. We got the FedEx box here sent from the PR firm. We’re going to open it up and see what they included. With some tabs to get through here, there we go. We’ll open this up and see what’s inside so there is the T-Mobile box before it and they included it looks like some public relations material, nothing terribly exciting there ever so let’s go ahead and see what is in the box here.
So it has got a picture of it on the front, the Blackberry Pearl Flip. I used the Blackberry Pearl before I got my first iPhone. I love it. I've always been a big fan of Blackberry and I think the Flip phone has a great form factor for it so I'm very curious to use it. So the picture of it there, the picture of it close on the side device on the back with some of the cool stuff it does calling, fun information and messaging. It has got Wi-Fi and my faves. It is not 3G. It is running on Edge and what is inside the box but we’ll see what’s inside the box and that’s about it. Let’s open it up.
Information Blackberry Pearl 820 tips and tricks, getting started, having fun, being a guy, I’ll probably never look at that, install CDs, something in Spanish some terms and conditions and here is the device itself. We’re going to open that off to the side for just a minute but take a look at that for a second. Let’s see what else we’ve got inside. I think they included a charger then. I think it’s Micro USB they went with this time so Micro USB to USB but it’s not fully proprietary and 3.5 mm headphones, of course a wall charger. We’ll kick all that aside and let’s take a look at the phone itself.
Here is the Blackberry Pearl Flip and now we’ve gone high def. I hope you guys can see this stuff a little bit better. I’ll do a full review and a comparison for you but let me give my obligatory size comparisons here. Here is the iPhone 3G just a pair smaller but not that much. Certainly thinner, thickness wise definitely a little bit thicker but not by much so put that off.
Here is the Blackberry Pearl Flip. Let’s take a quick look at it. So it does have an external screen right here although you can't see if the phone is off but it does have a Pearl S-keyboard right there which is kind of nice. Let’s see if we have left books to type on. It is simply to be not that bad and just have the recess track ball. It is just very interesting. Let’s go ahead and boot this sucker up for the first time and let’s see if it has got a charge and see how it looks.
So if you hold down the power button right there. It is actually unstable when you have it open up. It’s not solid. It kind of rock around a little bit. To set up wizard and see what this has to say, continue, United States, you want to connect to Wi-Fi, blah-blah-blah. We can set the stuff later and how to use the phone. Alright, I get up to set up wizard so that was it and when you click it, it was already on, very quick boot up and there is the external screen which actually looks to be pretty nice. It will show you messages, which eventually I have one of, there is a voicemail on this SIM card account.
It shows your battery indicator, your Edge and your signal strength and the analog clock. It seems we can change that to digital. It does have a camera. I don’t know what resolution is.
I’ll go through all that in my review but it has got a nice feel to it. I definitely give it that and very easy to open. It feels resolved and secure in the hand but again I’ll reserve judgment until I review it. I think it has got a 3.5 mm headset jack there, your Micro USB port, take a program of the soft key right there, microphone, volume toggle up and down and a soft key on top. I think that is about it but it definitely has a real nice feel to it and it looks nice. So wear and tear just a little bit and around it.
