Is sugar-free gum okay to chew?
Dr. John Joseph: The National Institute of Dental Research did a study and found out that children who chew sugar less chewing gum right after eating have a 40% reduction in decay. I never knew that, I mean that was something because it stimulates saliva, and saliva is such a natural cleansing action. It’s one of the great things for and so sugarless chewing gum is great. It really is I mean I’m not saying it can prevent decay, but it sure doesn’t you know much of your chewing gum tend as eliminating a problem of course it’s not. But it’s not bad. It’s good.
Now sugar chewing gum is nothing but a problem. I mean you just creating a lot of problems of that. So is not how much have you taken as far as decay. It’s how long it stays in your mouth, so if non sense suckers and diet I mean Coca – Colas and those types of things just cause a lot of problems because it’s in the mouth for a long period of time. Just like Coca –Colas your soft drinks have acid like I told you about decay. Sugar and acid demoralized the teeth and causes decay. So if you drink a lot of Coca- Colas or you speeding up the process of decays.
