Derrick: Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I'm your host Derrick Schommer. Tonight we’re going to make, this is not night time, I guess it could be. Today, tonight, wherever you are, we’re going to be making the banana night martini. I think the night caught me off guard. So you're going to drink it at night or the day time.
We’re going to have pineaplly vodka specifically I made this because I wanted to use the Sky Fusion’s all natural pineapple. I’ve been trying to think of something to use it in so I just put in some effort. I went out and find a couple recipes. So you’ll see another one this week too. Raspberry, call for raspberries like a Smirnoff here, raspberry vodka. I kind of like their bottle design. And that was because we happened to have it and that was awesome. It just kind of hangout in the corner for months since the beginning of the show, I think. And I don’t know where we use it for but we are already halfway done. Am I supposed to have iPod right away? Won't worry about that.
And cr?me de banana, yeah, we’re also going to be using, and there’s cr?me de banana. And we’re going to have some pineapple juice. We’re going to throw all that into a martini glass, a cocktail glass. We’re going to shake it. Put a little garnish on the side. It will be cool.
Alright, let's do it. It’s like a sword. I smile when a way to be cool. I just want you to know. Alright, we’re going to do an ounce of vodka. Let's start with the raspberry. Boom, there you go. We’ll do an ounce of the other vodka. I smell the pineapples. We’ll do a half ounce of banana and a half ounce of pineapple juice. And on my prediction, since I have this is going to be very solid. Because it always tends to be. This should give us our color. A little extra body and texture. There you go. Shake that. Old Cointreau bottle. Finish out by Alcohols by Volume, so go ahead and check out that show. Here we go.
Strain that in here. If you chill your martini glass, it will be even extra delicious. I don’t know if that’s true, but it will definitely be cold. And we’ll garnish it. See if we could squeeze this little guy on there. Oh no. I broke him. Whatever.
Here you go. That’s the Common Man’s style right there. Busted up garnish. It’s like my only attempt to be professional. That’s really nice. Oh, the raspberry, that’s what it is. I couldn’t figure out what that nice sweet aroma is.
Now what you could do, the other garnish you put on here is a Hershey’s Kiss which is the recipe called for. Hershey’s Kiss and a banana. You can also, if you want to really get crazy with the banana, I would carve out like a long piece of banana, slide it in there. Throw a little stick with a little Hershey’s Kiss. Because obviously my banana effort is gone to waste.
In terms of taste, I'm conflicted on which is the most big flavor. All the flavors together kind of bring down the subtlety. There is a little bit of alcohol burn. So potency wise, you're going to get that as almost the finish on your tongue. You're getting that, like the alcohol. Not a burn, just like, like you’ve had vodka. If you know what that’s like. You maybe spit out that paste.
Overall, banana, again slightly subtle in the banana. The pineapple is almost, because of the vodka, it’s not like drinking natural pineapple juice. Not even as sticky as some of the other pineapple juices because they usually have at least an ounce. A nice very structured raspberry. Try it again.
Definitely got a lot of raspberry going on in there. Raspberry pineapple. If you can imagine what that taste like, then you need it to make it a drink. Because that’s what this taste like.
Jennifer: Even you can't explain it.
Derrick: I can't explain it. What's this called, I lost my prompt. This is the pineapple banana night cocktail. There you go. Check us out in everydaydrinkers.tv. I shall say my comments for tomorrow since I forgot my iPod. I'm sorry. I apologize because I slack off and I left my iPod some place. I got to go find it.
So until then, I'm your host Derrick Schommer, we're teaching you how to drink.
