Welcome to the Sunday Night Shooter’s edition to Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host, Derrick Schommer. Again, I’m flying solo here. So hopefully, I don’t screw anything up.
What I’m going to do today is the Balrog. This is the best we’ve never heard of and I haven’t tried but it has vodka, it has tequila and it has sambuca. We haven’t used the sambuca enough so we’re going to bring the sambuca into the house. This is the Verona Samboca, they also have a Licoretsia, I don’t know where I put it. It’s probably in that mess back there. I still haven’t organized it. It’s a very, very much black jellybean, it’s what I’m getting from that. Of course, we’ve got our Tito’s Vodka, you could have Tito’s Vodka. And I decided to go back to the Hornitos. We haven’t used this. We might have used it way back maybe almost like nine months ago and this is the Hornitos Plata. And I have a lot of tequila so I chose this specific one. I haven’t used it a lot. I like to explore different brands and let’s just see what the labels look like, but what the big difference is is it is about US$24. I don’t know what it is in other countries if you can get it. It’s a Sauza brand. And because it’s cheap yet elegant and good, this is what I use when I have parties. Whatever brands I’ve shown that I personally like, good party brand because it’s way better than the Cuervo Gold and overall, it’s a good price.
So let’s get going. It’s going to be one third of each and we’re done. We’re putting it in there. So I don’t know if it really matters what we’ll do first. Let’s put the tequila in first. Unfortunately, I don’t have a third measurement here so I’m just going to make it up as I go along. Let’s see how much that comes out to be. That could be tight, but we’ll give it a try. We’ll do vodka, one third. Alright, that could be a lot of vodka. Let’s see how that goes. I’ll pour a little of that out. And then finally, Sambuca. Easier to pour because it’s pretty thick because it’s made from awesome. There you go. Pour a little of that right on top. Not really layered. It doesn’t have to be. Instructions read, fill each drink. That’ll fill all three. Not impressive. It looks like water which if you think about it, it’s still kind of impressive because most shots tend to be colorful. So my personal opinion is anything that is clear, invisible, dangerous because you can’t tell how powerful it really is. You don’t know what alcohols are in here.
Well, it smells like tequila with black licorice. So if you image putting a black licorice inside of a glass of just straight tequila. This is what you got. Let’s give it a try. It’s got ponsy, it’s got sticky sweet flavors, tequila. If you like tequila with this, it might depend on maybe a little bit of what you put them in because I’m getting the tequila, it might also just be how it works on you. But I get the tequila at the end. A nice even coating of burn across the tongue from sides, tip, back, all of it. It does kind of taste like you put black licorice, stirred it around inside of a little glass of tequila and then fester in there for maybe twenty or thirty minutes, maybe microwave it for five seconds. Get a little more and that’s what it takes. So that is something you like. You like Sambuca and you like tequila, this is the perfect marriage. Of course to you, it’s hiding in there like a little ninja just sitting there waiting to cause harm to your baldy senses by drinking too many of this. Bad night if you drink a lot of this and I could see how it can happen because it’s easy to drink, super smooth, great nice flavors for those that like Sambucas and tequila.
So there you go. That’s the Balrod. I’m your host Derrick Schommer. We’re teaching you how to drink.

Well, it smells like Tequila with black licorice. So if you manage in putting black licorice inside of a glass of just straight Tequila and she’s got—let’s give it a try. It’s got potency, sticky sweet flavors, Tequila. Feel like Tequila, this—it might depend on maybe a little bit of what or where we put them in ‘cause I’m getting the Tequila. It might also just be how it works in your palate. But I get the Tequila at the end, a nice, even coating of burn across the tongue from sides, tip, back, all of it. It does kind of taste like you put black licorice, stir it around inside of a little glass of Tequila, let it fester in there for maybe 20,30 minutes, maybe microwave her for five seconds, get a little warmth and that’s what it taste like. So that is something you like. You like Sambuca and you like Tequila. This is the perfect marriage. Of course, Tito’s is hiding there like a little Ninja, just sitting there waiting to cause harm to your bodily senses by drinking too many of these. Bad night if you drink a lot of this. And I can see how it can happen, ‘cause it’s easy to drink, super smooth, great nice flavors for those that like Sambucas and Tequila. So there you go, that’s the Ball Rock.
