Seems a bit contradictory, but a McDonald’s in Australia just got approval from the company’s headquarters to be the first ever McDonald’s to offer table service. The outlet in a seaside suburb south of Sydney will try the service for five weeks. The couple who run it came up with the idea when they started serving their parents meals with cutlery -- they visit the outlet every week, and loved it. Other customers saw the service, and wanted it too. Then the Australian head of McDonald’s visited just before Christmas -- and got a service with crockery and glassware, too. The Telegraph explains after, she contacted McD’s Chicago’s headquarters. Up the chain of command the idea successfully went. Newser says -- plates at a McD’s? Gasp! But a local outlet stopped by, and reports customers are already coming in to try the service. The experiment began Monday.
