ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Myanmar's democracy leader and Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi arrived in South Korea on Monday for her first visit, where she is due to meet the President Lee Myung-bak. The Nobel laureate was greeted at Incheon International Airport by Na Kyung-Won, a Korean lawmaker who chairs the Organising Committee of the Special Olympics World Winter Games, which Suu Kyi will attend. When she reached her hotel, Suu Kyi shook the hands of some of the Burmese people who had gathered in the lobby to greet her. Suu Kyi has been in prison or under house arrest off and on for 15 years since 1989 because of her fight for democracy in the former Burma. She was released from house arrest in 2010 and elected to the lower house of the Myanmar parliament in April 2012. During her five-day visit, Suu Kyi will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the Global Development Summit, and receive a human rights award in the city of Gwangju, where a pro-democracy uprising was staged in 1980. South Korea and Myanmar established diplomatic relations in 1975.
