If you’re not fortunate to have swallows breeding in a year, you can still attract breeding birds into your garden by putting up nest boxes like this behind me. This one is designed for great tits and blue tits up type of thing that’s made up of particular material like a stone creek that stops predators digging through to get to the chicks and the eggs inside. This one’s being used by family of great tits this season; I’ll take you inside in a second, show you the nest and what’s left. You see that nest that they’ve made; this has one remaining great tit egg inside that hasn’t hatched and currently it’s home to a family of the awakes who are quietly enjoying the soft padding left inside. You can get customized boxes for Robins, even House Martins and putting them up gives you a good chance for attracting breeding birds into your garden.
