Hi, my name is Visnja at the International School of Music. I would like to tell you something about the different articulations. When we know how to get the sound, we want to learn different articulations. First is tonguing, which includes staccato, short notes, and that means that the tip of your tongue hits the top of your upper teeth and then you just remove the tongue when you start blowing. Like you want to say the syllable T.
If you want to connect the notes and get the slur or legato articulation, you start first note with tongue and then continue blowing and just move your fingers like this.
If you want to play short notes, staccato that will sound like this -- strong strike of your tongue.
Now, we will talk about the flute position, how to hold the flute.
