(ROUGH CUT ONLY - NO REPORTER NARRATION) Lebanese army vehicles and soldiers were deployed heavily in the Tripoli districts of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen on Sunday (March 24) after a night of heavy clashes in both areas. On Friday, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati resigned after a dispute with Hezbollah ministers in the government, pushing the country's political crisis further into the unknown as it reels under the effects of the war in neighbouring Syria. Fighting intensified in northern Lebanon on Saturday as Mikati called for a "salvation" caretaker government to run the country. There were no official reports of casualties after Saturday (March 23) night's clashes. The politically volatile country is struggling to cope with a spillover of violence and a wave of refugees from the two-year-old civil war in Syria. Tripoli is home to a Sunni Muslim majority largely supportive of Syria's Sunni-led uprising, and they have sporadically clashed with a small enclave of pro-Hezbollah minority Alawites - the same sect to which Syrian President Bashar al-Assad belongs.
