-- What's up price five fans I'm Brian. Tablets are here to stay so we're bring it on a battle between two of the big boys. It's a prize fight -- out between Apple and fourth generation iPad and Google's nexus. Our judges for this fight are senior editor Donald Taco Bell senior editor -- would make Ben Franklin and myself. It'll take all three judges' blind scores and average them out the nearest tenth of -- point the final prize fight for. -- -- let's get ready to rumble round one is design. Apple's iPad fourth generation is still the benchmark for design for -- premium tablet even if it's a little heavier. It's all little body is sleek and sturdy it brings a nine point seven inch -- -- Apple's Retina Display at the slightly lower resolution. With 264 pixels per inch. And the only difference physically there's a smaller lightning port on the bottom. Now Google's nexus -- Brings a ten inch widescreen tablet designed with a higher 299. Pixels -- that slightly lighter in weight with a great design as well. This is a sturdy tablet but. It certainly has a more plasticky feel with its sticky faux leather finish on the back side that we're not all fans of but this guy will be able to take the -- -- takes this round four point seven and the nexus and gets a four next round is user interfaces. It's the easiest -- -- play interface on planet earth. It's snappy and intuitive but cold weather has multiple functions access her apps and a few basic settings. We get that Apple wants to keep it simple but it could still give us a little more than just a notification bar after all this time. Now the nexus ten. Brings Android -- dean and it's a clean OS that is fully realized while bringing Android -- customization with -- widgets that are were sizable and a dock for your apps. That also lets you drag icons on top of each other to create folders. Notifications are still also a staple here when you swipe from the center but swiping from the top right now brings you quick access to your key settings. So I think -- mean to more than ten with IOS but not everyone here please. Takes this -- four point three and the nexus and gets a three point seven soccer added. The nexus ten comes with sixteen or 32 gigs of storage and a dual core processor. It also bring support for HDMI out and micro USB directly on the device. -- jelly -- Google now which delivers relevant information like whether public transit in nearby businesses. Google's voice search and commands are still unmatched by a little less. Plus its -- for more reliable including Google's street view and public transit options. -- Google places -- does not on the same level when it comes out but it's still a legitimate enough offering. Gesture typing to Trace over your work instead of typing them and multiple user accounts on one tablet is big. Now the iPad comes in sixteen. 32 and six according flavors and brings those screens with a new 86 X processor. That doubles the graphics and CPU performance of the previous iPad. -- has a pretty interface but it's still just not as accurate and its response time lag significantly behind Google's. Apple maps with turn by turn directions might work out for some of you but in my users is not even close and -- still has a long ways to go. Airplay works best in the Apple ecosystem player content on an Apple TV and -- -- is both a blessing and a first. -- significantly faster but it also makes some of your previous accessories obsolete. But where the iPad shines is its robust library of -- The iTunes ecosystem that really makes the tablet more than just the hardware it's really its greatest asset here -- yeah. -- -- -- Both tablets other positives and negatives there's no memory expansion on either device but the nexus. Get the -- with a four point three and the iPad gets before its next round is web browsing nimble tank. Nexus can -- excellent web browsing even without flash support with its Chrome browser that brings features like an -- -- -- load. For private browsing. The iPad brings safari which is just assault of a browser. It's snapping -- -- also features cloud syncing of bookmarks and other IOS devices and a clean reader mode. Video quality looks great on both devices and the nexus tens widescreen allows you to showcase more of the content. I might give the iPad a slight edge with a -- representation and black levels even with the slightly higher resolution on the nexus ten. But really it's a coin -- here. Both tablets a front facing and five megapixel rear cameras that shoot 1080. We give Apple's iPad just an edge when it comes in a small leap from taking pictures and videos. But I would just recommend that you don't become part of that small but growing group of people. That take pictures with their tablet. These are two of the best tablets for multi media -- I've had just get the. So after averaging four rounds -- Apple still -- but the nexus. The death -- five's performance. The nexus kind of one of the fastest Android tablets we've seen but occasionally -- taking longer to load than they really should. -- in our video playback battery drain test. The fourth gen iPad. Gave us a whopping fourteen hours of -- compared the nexus tends to eight point five hours of battery life and that's a huge difference. Combine that back. The ipad's processor -- and snapping -- and it's a hard combination to beat the iPad gets a perfect five. After five rounds Apple still -- -- final round that decides it all. Sixteen gig model starts at 399 and 32 gig model is for 99. The fourth gen iPad sixteen gig model starts at 499. Now depends on what's important to you but the iPad is really worth its price with its extensive app support in streaming performance right now plus. It's a device -- hold its value over time when you're ready to resell it. The iPad case. -- 47 and the nexus gets before. The let's average out all six rounds and in a battle where the iPad killer. It never let go and the fourth generation iPad takes this battle four point six the four point one. -- New York. Connect the pen is no channel and it's still one of the best albums on the market but on this day -- the iPad reigns supreme. I'm Brian Tong thinks watching and we'll catch you guys next week for another -- --
