An Interview with Elizabeth and The Catapult

Elizabeth Ziman: We’re pop. We’re not really sure what that exactly means.

Pete Lalish: We try to do as many things on the stage as possible.

Elizabeth Ziman: But, yeah we just try to get all our friends involved like
collaborating with them. So when we were in New York, we just
try to get everyone we know involved and it gets little hectic but
on the road, we’re forced to actually be a band.

Pete Lalish: Yeah.

Elizabeth Ziman: With four members.

Pete Lalish: We met a couple of years ago, maybe four or five years ago in
Boston. We’re going to school and met Elizabeth and then we met
Danny, our drummer who is not here because he was buying a car.
For us to go in tour -- the two of us met in Boston and we just
started playing music together and write, it was a very -- like
within a couple of days with each other and work has always
started recording our songs not long after and then a lot of those
things were our first EP that was done.

Elizabeth Ziman: Yeah, I mean Danny has a home recording studio and so that was
what really tempted me right off the bat to hang out and then it’s
just ended up, clicking immediately and so we recorded our first
album in his studio. We recorded actually our second album in his
home studio but we also recorded with Mike Mogis and -- very,
very different.

Pete Lalish: Yeah.

Elizabeth Ziman: We just made so many recordings.

Pete Lalish: Yeah.

Elizabeth Ziman: So we have no way to release any of our stuff and we wrote the
songs and we just played -- a lot of songs we do a lot of it --

Pete Lalish: Yeah.

Elizabeth Ziman: So, it’s like a lot of the best recordings I think are sort of just like
the minute you rate something, that’s what’s so beautiful about
having a home recording studio. I can be really impulsive and then
just like the team -- the moment. Our first EP cover which Pete
actually made the artwork for, I just have this vision of this little
troubled girl kind of like slingshot, this paper crane flying above
her in the sky and she seems like looking for mischief and it just
kind of work for the image so that was our first. We weren’t sure if
those are going to be the name of that album or the name of the
band.

I hope that they can relate to it somehow and that some part of it
inspires them maybe and otherwise, if they’re just having fun that
make us why did you write Race You like what did you do to
exercise. What did you do to stay in shape? And, I just have like no
answer just like the kids running in the woods.
