This review of a real tree is brought to you by AppVee.com.
A Real Tree is one of the simplest yet most interesting apps to hit the app store. Buying this app isn’t going to do a lot for you personally, nor is it something that you’re going to really use or keep on your phone for very long, but the concept behind it is excellent.
Every single time this app is purchased, one of the partners associated with ARealTree.com will plant a tree in one of 12 countries currently fighting deforestation and poverty. This is a great cause and costs so little to participate that there is no reason why every iPhone and iPod Touch user should pass over buying this app.
While the concept behind the app is excellent, there isn’t really anything to do in the app itself. Loading up the app will show a baby tree growing nice and big into a full sized tree. There are some interesting sound effects of birds that you can hear while the tree is growing, but once it’s full size, everything stops.
Now you’re just looking at an image with a button to explore the forest. The one thing that this app could have done better would be launching the explore the forest webpage in the app itself. Loading it up in Safari means that your time in this app becomes minimal. Granted the idea is that by having this app on your phone, you’re showing your support and contribution, but a little bit more functionality would have been nice. All in all, this app is more about the concept behind it then it is about the app itself. At the price they’re asking, this is a must have app.
