Guide to Barcelona, Ibiza and Mallorca, Spain
Spain is bursting with inspirational places to visit. In Spain you can explore a rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes and party all night long. To soak up Spain’s cultural heritage, Barcelona is the number one destination. Located on the Iberian Peninsula, Barcelona is Spain’s second largest city and is a Mecca for artist, students and tourist.
Some of Barcelona’s attraction includes the Museu De Picasso, regular live performances and a legacy left behind by Antoni Gaudi the famous modern architect. Park Rowell on the outskirts of Barcelona is a testament to Gaudi’s love of nature; it was originally commissioned as part of the housing development.
Born in 1852 during the industrial revolution Gaudi rejected the harsh straight lines found in architecture at the time. He injected whimsy and fantasy into his designs and incorporated organic shapes such as the curve of shells and the movements of plants. Gaudi’s work uses color, mosaic and unusual lines to create different moods and effects. In the early 1900’s Gaudi turned his attention to his Masterpiece La Sagrada Familia “The Church of the Holy Family”, he wanted to create a completely original work that would pay tribute to his newly found Catholicism, Gaudi died before the building was complete and the only remaining finalized Blue Prints were destroyed during the Spanish Civil War. Work still continues on La Sagrada Familia today, but contemporary architects have had to reinvent the original design. Gaudi’s wide ranges of unique buildings have help shape Barcelona into the cultural epicenter it is today.
Welcome to Ibiza the party capital of Spain if not the world. Located 80 kilometers of the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea Ibiza is part of the Balearic Island chain. It is home to some of the worlds most famous night clubs including Es Paradis, Eden and Space. Ibiza has spawned such music as Café del Mar’s famous lounge series and a unique style called Balearic Beats, in Ibiza, its always party time.
