(Image source: Sky News )     BY ZACH TOOMBS     At least seven people are dead and hundreds injured in Egyptian protests marking the second anniversary of the nation’s revolution.   Six people in Suez died from gunshot wounds while marching on Egyptian troops — though it’s unclear whether the military was responsible for the killings. In Cairo, protesters targeted the political officers for the Muslim Brotherhood. [Video: Sky News ]   It’s the Brotherhood’s political leader, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, who has been the main focus for demonstrators. Al Jazeera says, since Egypt overthrew unelected leader Hosni Mubarak in 2011, Morsi has done little to change the status quo. [Video: The Telegraph ]   “Two years after the uprising, the country is still unstable. Rising frustration and a declining economy and unfulfilled promises of accountability, justice and freedom.”   And one protester tells the BBC :   “This is a natural reaction to the country being in a worse state than it was under Mubarak. This is a natural reaction from people who have not felt as if the revolution had any effect at all.”   Although Morsi is Egypt’s first democratically-elected leader, many of his decisions have sparked public outrage — including his decree last November placing his own executive power above that of the courts. Foreign Policy writes, although the old leader’s out, the political system in place under Mubarak appears to be alive and well.   “The 18 days that brought down Mubarak demonstrated that Egypt is capable of achieving the unthinkable. Today, more of the honesty, courage, and soul-searching that stirred the public's imagination during those days will be required to bring an end to the old, dying political order in Cairo.”
