Designers Balenciaga and Dries Van Noten showed us that mixing and wearing florals is not only extremely modern, but it puts the creativity back in getting dressed.
When you shop for floral garments, take note of two things: the cut or shape of the piece, and the type of floral pattern used. It's essential to balance the silhouette of the piece against its pattern. A vintage floral print may look beautiful as wallpaper, but it can make you look old beyond your years if the shape of the garment isn't extremely modern.
Some of the most beautiful patterns are in abstract florals. A woman wearing a mixed floral pattern looks much more polished than one who pairs a floral piece with a solid. Mixing floral patterns is not only sophisticated, but projects a sense of energy and confidence. Just remember to balance the look with an expert styling trick used to mix any print. Offset larger patterns, with a smaller complimentary print in the same color palette.
