Learn about 5 of the world's most populated species that are visible to the naked eye.
Here are the 5 most populated species on Earth that are visible to the naked eye:
Number 5 are the ants. With a population of nearly 10 billion billion there are more than 10,000 species of ants across the globe. They are particularly widespread in tropical forests making more than half of the insect populations in some areas. Interestingly, these social insects communicate with one another about dangers and sources of food supply using chemicals.
Number 4 is the Antarctic Krill with a population numbering approximately 500 trillion. These creatures are the main source of food for many sea mammals and fish.
Number 3 are the domestic chickens. At any given point, their population is close to 18.6 billion around the world. Domesticated for more than 2000 years, nearly 50 billion chickens are born each year.
Number 2 is the Human population which has reached the mark of 7 billion. Although India and China are the world's most populous countries, there has been a decline in their fertility rates due to increased awareness.
Number 1 - The cattle population. Domesticated for nearly 10,000 years for their meat, milk, and labor, the cattle population has reached the mark of 1.4 billion on our planet.
