Five Essential Pots and Pans for Every Kitchen

TYLER FLORENCE: Hi. I’m Tyler Florence here with a GMC Trade Secret.
You know, when it comes to stocking your kitchen with pots and pans, there’s a lot you can pick up. But if you boil it down to the five essential pieces that you need, I’ve got a list for you. You won’t go wrong. And it’s basically going to cover everything that you need to do.
All right, the first thing you need is a large stock pot. Now, this is a two-gallon stock pot that’s really great for making big batches of soup, chili, or even boiling lobsters.
You need a one-gallon sauce pan, which is great for making small amounts of soup like a little bit of potato soup or a cream of butternut squash, something really small for about four people. It’s a perfect pan to use.
You need a large sauté pan for frying chicken or making chicken parmesan for large groups of people.
And you need a Dutch oven. This is one of my favorite pots in the whole kitchen because you can braise beautiful things like making a pot roast or even making lamb shanks.
You also need an eight-inch nonstick pan for making eggs. And I use this pan just about every weekend for one of my favorite dishes, which is sunny-side-up eggs with chives and some freshly grated parmesan.
