Pop quiz - what's the largest cactus you have seen? Probably not more than several feet tall. And surely we can't imagine them damaging our homes.

Well, not for one couple, who experienced a massive cactus fall on their home and cause property damage worth $3,000.

The incident occurred on September 8th and the couple's home is located in Mesa Arizona.

The long standing cactus was an integral part of this location. It had rained the day before and perhaps that caused the cactus to fall.

This particular cactus is called the saguaro* cactus and believe it or not, some can grow as tall as 70 feet. They are a symbol of pride for communities in Arizona. It is against the law to harm any of them and if you need to move them during any construction, a special permit must be obtained.

Considering the side arm of this cactus can take as long as 75 years to grow, it is important that they are protected.
