3 Steps in Marketing With Social Media

Okay, let’s talk social media strategy. I'm going to give you three steps so here we go. The first step is to register for as many Social Networks as possible. That sounds very scary I know but there is a great tool out there called ping.fm you're going to love it. On this website, you can go and it will take you through the setup and registration for over 40 social networking sites. You can also post your status updates to ping.fm and it blast it out to all of the sites you registered on all of it so you can be everywhere once. So go to ping.fm.

The second step in your social media strategy is to schedule your time. Think of your social media in terms of breakfast, lunch and dinner. No snacks in between. We’re going to do it three times a day. This is the key to keeping you to 15 to 30 minutes a day. Otherwise, social media will ruin your life.

Step three, if your social media strategy is too socialized. This involves two parts, what you say and what other people say. So, let’s talk about what you say first. You find success in social media when it’s not just about you. So talk about other websites, other shows on the web, other blogs and do it often. Make the information you share on social networks valuable and relevant to other people and they’ll come back to hear what you have to say.

Now let’s talk about what other people are saying. Social media needs to be social which means we need to be interacting but to avoid spending all day everyday on social networks, people know that sounds like a ton of fun. You choose two to start out with, go to Facebook one time each day and respond to three status updates. You do the same thing with Twitter, go to Twitter one time each day and reply to three tweets.
