Greg Morrison: If the name Jaguar congest up an image it is that of a British luxury car with the performance edge. Now after years of some ups and many downs the company is trying to burnish it's image with revitalized line up that emphasizes power. The XF sport sedan is a visual departure from earlier jags with lines that people love or hate, depending upon who you ask. Now it also comes with something new under the hood a supercharged five liter V8 engine that delivers 510 horsepower and 461 foot pounds of torque. Those impressive numbers occurred to see of a Twin Vortex Supercharger, it is configure to a eliminate the line usually associated with supercharging unit.
A result is a power plant that has comparable fuel economy to the 4.2 liter engine in the earlier XF. Well still meeting strict US emission standards the six speed automatic is a drive by wire system controlled by a dial on the center console. But luxury has not been forgotten in the pushed better performance. Polished interior surfaces and controls are the norm. And for audio Jaguar features the Bowers and Wilkins that delivers a full range of clear crisp sound to keep up with the rest of the luxury segment tech features like the latest navigation interface and the blind spot warning system are available on the supercharged edition.
Track tested at a top speed of 225 miles per hour the XF supercharge can claim the title of the fastest Jaguar ever build. It competes directly against the BMW five series and the Mercedes AMG line and the luxury performance segment. It offers many of the same features but it's priced against the more popular version of those same makes. This is Greg Morrison.
