100,000 killer bees attack park workers. Just one bee sting is one enough - imagine thousands of them chasing you.Recently two Tampa park workers were confronted by roughly 100,000 angry killer bees after the men accidentally disrupted a hive. They were taking out a pile of trash when they flipped over an old truck tire. Chaos ensued when giant clusters of Africanized honeybees came at them. One of the workers who tried to run away from the stinging swarm states “It was like a thousand little knives poking me in my body. It's the worst feeling because you just had so many and they wouldn't stop.” Each man ended up with about 100 stings each and the pair was taken to the hospital where they were given antibiotics and medication to reduce swelling.Africanized Honey Bees acquired the alias of killer bees due to the aggressive and vicious attacks that they are known to inflict upon animals and people who disturb their environment. The venom is not stronger than that of other honey bees, however the killer bees swarm in higher numbers and will follow their target over a longer distance. And once bothered, the Africanized Honey Bees can remain irritated for a full 24 hours.
