Skateboard phenom, Ryan Sheckler, stepped onto an old board belonging to his father when just eighteen months of age. He took the board with him everywhere he went for the next three years. In 1995 he came across his first quarter pipe at a buddy’s house in his native town, San Clemente. The rest they say is history.

Within a few years, Sheckler joined the CASL (California Amateur Skateboarding League) and proceeded to win one state championship after another. He picked up eye wear sponsor Arnette, the same company that boasted Tony Hawk on its’ roster. The team manager at Arnette recognized the connection and offered Ryan Tony Hawk’s vert ramp. After some minor alterations including a four foot knock down at the demand of the city, Sheckler had a mini ramp set up in his own backyard. This was a dream come true for the aspiring skater.
In 2003, at the encouragement of World Industries, Sheckler turned pro at thirteen years of age. He immediately put an end to any uncertainty of his ability with first place finishes at the Gravity Games, the Vans Triple Crown, Slam City Jam and the X Games. In fact, his success in the Skateboard Park event made him the youngest participant ever to earn a gold medal at the X Games (13 years of age).
Since turning pro Ryan has dominated the contest circuit, bringing home just about every title there is out there. In 2005, he successfully defended the title as National Street Champion and added World Street Champion to his long list of accomplishments. That same year, Ryan not only took the overall title in skateboard park at the Dew Action Sports Tour but he also earned the title “Athlete of the Year” by accumulating the most points of any athlete in all disciplines on the tour. In 2006 and 2007 Sheckler also claimed the overall AST Dew Tour Title. 2008 continued to prove Ryan is up there with the best as he took home first place at Thrasher’s Bust or Bail and won his 2nd Career X Games Gold Medal. He then followed up in 2009 as the IFC Skateboarding World Champion. In 2010 Ryan was able to repeat his X Games success by winning his 3rd X Games medal.
Amid being a Pro Skater, Hollywood has also taken a liking in Ryan. He’s been on the big screen in 4 movies, and in 2007 MTV brought Ryan’s life to the television screen with his reality show, “The Life of Ryan”. It was such a sensation that MTV picked it up for two additional seasons.
At just 18 years old, Ryan turned his name into a franchise. He started his own merchandising line, RS by Sheckler which embodies his style and is available to the mass consumer at an affordable price point. With his deep desire to give back, Ryan started The Sheckler Foundation in 2008. After 3 years, the foundation is going strong, changing lives and gaining world wide recognition for this young philanthropist.
During the minutes and hours in between skate sessions, Ryan spends time enjoying his other passions. He is an avid fan of motocross, as well as, anything car related. He claims to have an addiction to music, especially rap, heavy metal and classic rock.
